Urgent alert for LPG users: Complete e-KYC from home to avoid subsidy and booking issues
You can complete this process from home using your Oil Marketing Company's mobile app and Aadhaar FaceRD app
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): A very important and big update has come for the crores of LPG gas cylinder consumers of the country. The government has made a major change in the rules related to gas connections and has made Aadhaar-based e-KYC completely mandatory. According to the new rules, now every domestic gas consumer will have to undergo biometric Aadhaar verification. If any consumer is negligent in doing so, then the booking of his gas cylinder may be stopped and the subsidy coming into his account may also be stopped forever.
Fake connections and black marketing will be curbed
There are several important reasons behind this strict measure taken by the government. Amidst the increasing demand for gas in the market, the government wants to ensure that gas is supplied smoothly only to the right and needy people. Furthermore, this digital process will completely eliminate fake and duplicate gas connections and will also stop the black marketing of gas. In fact, departmental investigations have revealed many cases where people were illegally taking advantage of subsidies by having multiple connections. To root out this fraud, the government has launched this digital verification campaign.
Freedom from the hassle of agencies, the process will be completed through mobile only
The biggest relief for consumers is that they don't need to rush to the gas agency or stand in long lines to complete this e-KYC. You can easily complete this process from the comfort of your home, using your smartphone, in just a few minutes. First, download your gas company's official mobile app and log in with your consumer ID or mobile number. Then, go to the e-KYC or Aadhaar authentication option within the app. For face verification, you may also need to download the "Aadhaar FaceRD" app. Following the on-screen instructions, you can complete your biometric or face scan. Before starting this free process, be sure to have your Aadhaar card, LPG consumer number, gas agency name, registered mobile number, and bank account details ready.
Failure to do e-KYC may result in serious trouble
LPG e-KYC simply means that the identity of the gas connection holder is being digitally verified to keep gas company records updated and ensure that the subsidy is transferred directly to the correct person's bank account. If a consumer ignores or fails to complete this crucial process, they could face serious problems in the future. Such consumers may face significant difficulties booking gas cylinders and delays in receiving their subsidy. Furthermore, in some cases, the government may temporarily suspend the consumer's gas subsidy if their records are not updated. Therefore, it is wise to complete this process without delay.
