New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Sneezing is usually associated with cold and flu, but when it occurs repeatedly or continuously, it can become a problem. Frequent sneezing is often not a sign of cold or infection but indicates an allergic reaction. If the condition worsens, it may lead to headaches and increased sinus-related issues.

During winter, the air becomes dry and the nose loses its natural moisture. This makes breathing uncomfortable and can later lead to infections. Air pollution also contributes to irritation and infections in the nose and lungs. Ayurveda suggests several home remedies to control frequent sneezing, but it is important to first understand its causes and symptoms.

Frequent sneezing can be triggered when cold air directly hits the nose, causing irritation inside the nasal passages. This often leads to watery eyes and a runny nose. Exposure to smoke can cause itching in the nose and burning sensation in the eyes. Sneezing may worsen at night, along with chest congestion and difficulty in breathing. In severe cases, it may also disturb sleep.

To prevent these problems, the nose should always be covered with a cloth to avoid direct exposure to cold air. Cold water intake should be avoided, and steam inhalation should be done in the morning and evening to maintain moisture in the nasal passages and reduce irritation.

Applying two drops of sesame oil or anu oil in the nose at night can help reduce infection and dryness. Drinking turmeric milk before bedtime keeps the body warm from within and helps protect against external cold conditions.

Additionally, spending some time in sunlight daily and consuming vitamin C-rich citrus fruits can strengthen immunity. Maintaining cleanliness around the nose area is also important to prevent irritation and allergic reactions.
