Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the newly appointed candidates via video message

Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Encouraging the resolve of a developed India powered by youth, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed Rozgar Melas at 45 locations across the country via video message and distributed over 61,000 appointment letters to newly appointed youth. As part of this initiative, the Transport Battalion, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Bahalana Camp, Chandigarh organized the 18th edition of the Rozgar Mela on Saturday.


This initiative marked another significant milestone in the Government of India's mission-driven approach to transparent, time-bound, and inclusive recruitment, aiming to strengthen public institutions and empower the youth.


Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri formally handed over the appointment letters to the newly appointed candidates at the Rozgar Mela held at the Transport Battalion, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Bahalana Camp, Chandigarh.


During the ceremony in Chandigarh, a total of 107 candidates received appointment letters for various ministries and departments. These included 10 appointments in ITBP, 36 in CRPF, 30 in CISF, 8 in Assam Rifles, 2 in Bank of Baroda, 3 in Union Bank, and 18 in the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, showcasing the wide range of public service opportunities being generated through the Rozgar Mela.


Addressing the gathering, Shri Hardeep Singh Puri congratulated the newly appointed candidates and their families, calling the occasion a proud milestone reflecting years of dedication, discipline, and perseverance. He emphasized that public service is a responsibility where government policies translate into tangible results for the citizens. The Union Minister stated that these appointments will play a crucial role in realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047 (Developed India@2047), as envisioned by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.


Shri Puri informed that since the inception of the Rozgar Mela (Employment Fair), over 11 lakh appointment letters have been issued across the country, reinforcing the government's commitment to mission-mode recruitment. He emphasized that the appointments made in Chandigarh are not merely a formality, but part of a continuous effort to strengthen India's administrative and service delivery mechanisms.


On this occasion, Shri Puri highlighted India's robust growth trajectory, its rising global standing, and the expansion of manufacturing, exports, logistics, renewable energy, and digital infrastructure. Emphasizing the inclusive nature of this growth, he stated, “We are not just growing, but growing with social inclusion.”


The Union Minister further underscored service as the cornerstone of public administration, reminding the recruits that government authority is a duty towards the citizens. He urged them to build their professional lives on the pillars of competence, integrity, and courtesy, which form the foundation of effective and trustworthy governance.


Encouraging the candidates joining the uniformed forces, banking institutions, and technology-driven departments, Shri Puri expressed hope that their service would play a vital role in ensuring national security, economic development, and citizen-centric digital governance.


During the event, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Earth Sciences; and Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, virtually addressed the Rozgar Mela being held simultaneously at 45 locations across the country.


He stated that of the total appointment letters distributed during this edition, approximately 49,200 pertain to the Ministry of Home Affairs and its allied forces.


Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted the significant increase in the recruitment of women constables, attributing it to the progressive reforms and enabling policies implemented over the past 11 years. Emphasizing the increasing role of women in national security, he noted that women BSF personnel are now deployed at the zero line on international borders, and a woman Assistant Commandant will lead an all-male CRPF contingent on Kartavya Path during the Republic Day celebrations—a symbol of gender inclusivity in the armed forces.


He further stated that recruitment has increased significantly under the NDA government, noting that while 7.22 lakh appointments were made through major recruiting agencies like UPSC, SSC, and the Railway Recruitment Board during the UPA tenure, this figure has crossed 10.96 lakh under the NDA government.


Earlier, welcoming the chief guest and the newly appointed candidates, Shri Anand B. Ullagaddi, Commandant, Transport Battalion, ITBP, highlighted Mission Recruitment as a flagship initiative of the Government of India focused on institutional renewal, youth empowerment, and efficient public service delivery. He emphasized that the job fair embodies the government's commitment to merit-based and transparent recruitment processes.
