Horrific road accident: Speeding car falls into canal, four youths returning from wedding killed
Mathura (The Uttam Hindu): Four young men died on the spot in a tragic road accident late Wednesday night in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh. A speeding car lost control and fell into a canal at the Nagla Deviya turn. The young men in the car were returning from a wedding ceremony. Police arrived at the scene upon receiving information about the accident and the car was pulled out of the canal with the help of a crane. Earlier, villagers tried to pull the young men out, but by then they had already died.
Mathura Rural Superintendent of Police Suresh Chand Rawat said that four young men were traveling in a car at around 9 p.m. The vehicle was apparently speeding and the driver failed to see the curve. The car first hit a cemented tank, breaking it and causing the vehicle to overturn. The car fell into a 5-6 meter deep drain.
According to the Superintendent of Police, villagers immediately pulled the car occupants out, but they were already dead. Upon receiving the information, police, fire brigade, and traffic police arrived at the scene with a crane. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and the vehicle has been pulled from the canal. The investigation is ongoing. The deceased have been identified as Rahul (23), Mohit (21), Amit (23), and another youth. Amit was reportedly driving the car. All the youths were residents of Govardhan and were on their way to attend a wedding ceremony in Deeg.
Upon receiving the news of the accident, the family was devastated. Family members arrived at the scene and broke down in tears. Police are investigating the case, citing speeding and possible negligence as the primary causes of the accident.
