Husband brutally killed in Mumbai after opposing obscene comment on wife WhatsApp status

Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): A shocking and disturbing incident has emerged from the Nalasopara area of Maharashtra, where a young man lost his life after objecting to an obscene comment made on his wife's WhatsApp status. The brutal crime took place early Friday morning and created panic in the locality. Police acted quickly and arrested the accused.

Anniversary celebration turned into mourning

According to reports, 24-year-old Aftab Sheikh lived with his wife Shabana Sheikh in Pragati Nagar, Nalasopara East. Friday marked their wedding anniversary, and Shabana had posted a status on WhatsApp to celebrate the occasion. It is alleged that a man named Mehndi Hasan Sheikh made an obscene comment on the status and also used objectionable language on Instagram, which angered Aftab.

Deadly attack during confrontation

Unable to tolerate the offensive remarks about his wife, Aftab went with Shabana around 4:30 am to Mehndi Hasan’s residence in Hanuman Nagar, Nalasopara West to confront him. An argument broke out between the two sides. During the dispute, Mehndi Hasan allegedly attacked Aftab repeatedly with a knife. Aftab suffered severe injuries and died on the spot.

Accused arrested, found to be repeat offender

After receiving information about the incident, Nalasopara police reached the scene and arrested the accused. Preliminary investigation revealed that Mehndi Hasan is a habitual offender and had previously been booked under the POCSO Act. Police stated that the murder was the result of a dispute that began over an obscene comment on WhatsApp status. Further investigation is underway.
