Karnataka speaker U.T. Khader hosts Haryana PAC, focus on digital assembly reforms
Bengaluru (The Uttam Hindu): Karnataka assembly speaker U.T. Khader warmly welcomed the Haryana assembly press advisory committee (PAC) delegation during their study tour hosting them with traditional hospitality at his residence. PAC chairman Chandra Shekhar Dharni was specially honored reflecting efforts to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and democratic ties between the two states.
The visit was described as more than a formal interaction serving as an opportunity to exchange ideas on legislative functioning, media coordination, and parliamentary practices. The delegation included several members and officials aiming to understand Karnataka’s administrative systems and adopt best practices to improve transparency and efficiency in Haryana’s legislative assembly.
Highlighting his vision, U.T. Khader emphasized transforming the Karnataka assembly into a modern, digital, and paperless institution. He outlined initiatives such as AI-based attendance systems, technology-driven processes, and structured training programs for legislators to enhance their understanding of budget procedures and parliamentary responsibilities.
Khader also stressed improving house productivity, noting that a majority of bills were passed through discussion and consensus during recent sessions. Alongside digitization, he has focused on institutional reforms, security enhancements, and making the assembly more accessible and participatory positioning it as a model for legislative modernization.
