Kolkata (The Uttam Hindu): A five member Specila Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed by the Kolkata police in order to investigate the gang rape of the 24-year-old law student on her college premises in south Kolkata. The Assistant Police Commisioner (South Suburban) Pradeep Ghoshal will lead the SIT.

The police have already received the survivor's medical report, which confirms forceful penetration, bite marks on the neck and multiple scratches on her body. The survivor's confidential statement was recorded before an Alipore court magistrate, and her counseling has begun.

Three accused, Monojit Mishra, Zaib Ahmed, and Pramit Mukherjee, were arrested and sent to police custody till July 1. Investigators have retrieved video clippings of the crime from the accused's cellphones, which they claim will be sent for forensic confirmation.

The police have collected seven hours of CCTV footage from the college to track the movement of the survivor and the accused. Statements from seven students who were present in the college union room on the day of the crime will be recorded and corroborated with the accounts of the accused and the survivor.

The investigation is ongoing, with the police working to identify all persons present on the campus after 5 pm on the day of the crime.
