Malda case mastermind arrested at bagdogra airport while trying to flee

Malda (The Uttam Hindu): Police arrested alleged mastermind Mofakkarul Islam from Bagdogra Airport while he was trying to flee. The arrest comes ahead of the NIA taking over the probe.

So far, 17 accused including ISF leader Shahjahan Ali have been sent to 10-day police remand. While Shahjahan claims innocence, police say evidence links him to the case.

The violence erupted during voter list revision with seven judicial officers held hostage for hours. The Supreme Court has ordered an NIA investigation.
