Massive Road Accident in Amravati, Maharashtra: 6 Killed Including Schoolgirl After Bus–Auto Collision

Amravati (The Uttam Hindu): A horrifying road accident shook Amravati district of Maharashtra on Wednesday afternoon, leaving six people dead on the spot. The tragedy once again highlighted the deadly consequences of overspeeding. Meanwhile, a separate road accident in Noida also claimed one life.

Bus Smashes Auto, Wreckage Scattered

The fatal accident occurred near Rajura Bazaar on the Varud–Ashti road in Amravati district. A speeding Shivai bus rammed head-on into an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction. The impact was so severe that the auto was completely mangled. Six passengers travelling in the auto died instantly, while four others sustained serious injuries and are undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.

Class 7 Student Among the Deceased

According to initial reports, a Class 7 schoolgirl is also among those who lost their lives in the Amravati accident. The incident plunged the entire area into mourning. Local residents rushed to help the victims and informed the police. Police reached the spot, conducted panchnama proceedings and shifted the injured to hospital. The bus driver has been taken into custody and an investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the crash.

Speeding Canter Kills Pedestrian in Noida

In another tragic incident, a pedestrian was killed in a road accident in Noida. On Tuesday night, a speeding canter hit a man walking along the Noida Expressway under Phase-2 police station limits. According to Station House Officer Avdhesh Pratap Singh, the deceased has been identified as 40-year-old Soni Lal, a resident of Badarpur, Delhi. He was rushed to Felix Hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries early Wednesday morning. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and launched a search for the absconding canter driver.
