New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during the second episode of the 9th edition of ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, shared important guidance with students on the proper use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He advised students to use technology wisely and ensure that they do not become dependent or controlled by it, but instead use it to expand their own capabilities.

During the interaction, Adi Vikram, a student from Coimbatore, asked the Prime Minister whether students should be afraid of AI. He said that AI is increasingly influencing daily life and workplaces, with many companies now using AI instead of human employees. He asked whether students should fear AI and what they should keep in mind while choosing their future careers.

Responding to the question, PM Modi said that every era has witnessed discussions and concerns about new technologies. Earlier, people feared computers, and now similar concerns are being raised about AI. He emphasized that there is no need to fear technology, but it is important to ensure that humans remain decision-makers and not become its slaves.

Expressing concern, the Prime Minister said that for many children, mobile phones have become their masters. He pointed out that some children cannot eat without a mobile phone or live without television, which clearly indicates over-dependence on technology. He urged students to firmly decide in their minds that they are not slaves to technology, and that technology should remain a tool for maximum benefit.

Giving an example, PM Modi explained that using AI for guidance is helpful, such as asking it where to find a good book or which book to read on a particular topic. However, he warned that relying entirely on AI instead of studying oneself is harmful and can weaken learning habits.

He further stated that the nature of jobs will keep changing, and students must learn to understand technology and add value to their skills by combining human intelligence with technological strength. He concluded that if students continuously improve themselves, even the most advanced technology will benefit them, and there will be no reason to fear it.
