New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Noida International Airport in Jewar, Gautam Buddha Nagar district, on Monday. He said that it was not he who was inaugurating it, but the public present at the event. This airport will give wings to the future of the youth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged the public present at the airport inauguration to turn off their mobile phone flashlights, saying, "I have just removed the curtain. I want everyone present to inaugurate this airport. So, take out your mobile phones, turn on the flashlights, and inaugurate it."

Afterward, supporters present at the event lit their mobile phone flashlights. The Prime Minister told the public, "You are inaugurating this airport. It is your (the public's) trust. It is your future and your hard work. Therefore, the inauguration is being done by your hands."

Addressing the event, PM Modi said, "Today we are beginning a new chapter in the 'Developed Uttar Pradesh - Developed India' campaign. The country's largest state has become one of the states with the most international airports. Today, I have two reasons for pride and happiness: one is that I had the opportunity to lay the foundation stone of the airport and the privilege of inaugurating it. I share this privilege with you. Second, the name of the magnificent airport has become associated with the identity of Uttar Pradesh, which elected me as a Member of Parliament."

He said that this Noida airport will greatly benefit cities like Agra, Mathura, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Etawah, Bulandshahr, and Faridabad. This airport will bring many new opportunities for the farmers, small and micro-industries, and youth of western Uttar Pradesh. While flights will fly from here to the world, it will also symbolize the rise of a developed Uttar Pradesh.

Prime Minister Modi said, "I congratulate the people of western Uttar Pradesh for this airport. Today's event symbolizes India's new spirit. You all see how concerned the entire world is today. Even in this time of crisis, India has continued its development."

He said, "If I talk about western Uttar Pradesh, this is the fourth major project whose foundation stone has been laid or inaugurated in the last few weeks. In just a few weeks, the foundation stone of a huge semiconductor factory was laid in Noida. The country's first Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat train gained momentum. During this same period, the Meerut Metro was expanded. In such a short time, today the Noida International Airport has also been inaugurated by all of you."
