NEET UG 2025 Results Stand: Supreme Court Refuses to Interfere

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Supreme Court today dismissed a petition seeking a stay on the revised results and counseling process of NEET UG 2025. A vacation bench of Justices P.S. Narasimha and R. Mahadevan flatly refused to consider the petition filed by a student over alleged irregularities in the final answer key.

Shivam Gandhi Raina, a student who appeared in the exam, had alleged in his petition that the answers to three questions in the final answer key released by the National Examination Agency (NTA) were wrong. During the hearing today, the counsel for the petitioner argued that the future of many students would be affected due to the wrong answers and it is not an individual matter. He also cited a case of 2024, in which the apex court had intervened and directed to revise the result based on the expert report of IIT Delhi.

On the petitioner's arguments, Justice Narasimha said, "We cannot deal with individual exams." The bench remarked that a similar case had been dismissed two days earlier. When the lawyer insisted that there was a clear error in the answer key, Justice Narasimha said, "You may be right in principle that there can be multiple correct answers," but he clarified that a national level exam cannot be interfered with on the basis of an individual case.

Refusing to change its stance, the bench said, “Okay, thank you,” and declined to entertain the petition. The petitioner had specifically alleged a mistake in the answer to question number 136 (code number 47). With this verdict, the suspense over the declared results of NEET UG 2025 and the upcoming counselling process has ended for now.
