Brace for Downpour! These States to Witness Torrential Showers; Delhi-NCR Not Spared
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Meteorological Department (IMD) has said in its latest forecast that heavy to very heavy rains are likely at some places in northwest India from June 25. Along with this, the IMD has said that there is also a possibility of increase in rainfall activity. The Meteorological Department has said that heavy to very heavy rains are likely in many parts of central, east and northeastern India during the next 7 days, while a warning of extremely heavy rain has been issued at some places in western Madhya Pradesh in the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'yellow alert' for the national capital on Monday, warning of rain, strong winds and thunderstorms. The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain, lightning, thunderstorms and winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 kmph during the evening and night. According to the Meteorological Department, rain is expected in Delhi for the next three days. The minimum temperature in the national capital today (Monday) was recorded at 28.4 degrees Celsius and the humidity level in the air was recorded at 74 percent at 8.30 am. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to be around 36 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rains in these states for the next five days
IMD has said in the latest bulletin that heavy to very heavy rains are likely at isolated places in Madhya Pradesh during June 23 to 27. Apart from this, heavy rains are expected at isolated places in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh for the next five days (June 23 to 27). The department has also predicted very heavy rains in Vidarbha area on June 25 and 26, in West Bengal and Sikkim during June 24 to 27, in Bihar on June 23 and 24, in Jharkhand on June 26 and in Gangetic areas of Odisha and West Bengal on June 25 and 26.
When will it rain in Delhi?
The Meteorological Department has said that during this period, light/moderate rainfall is also likely at most places in Andaman and Nicobar Islands along with thunder, lightning and strong winds at the speed of 40 to 50 kmph. IMD has said that heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana during June 25 to 27. During this period, rain is also expected in the national capital Delhi.

In its latest forecast on monsoon, the Meteorological Department has said that Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Western Uttar Pradesh, Eastern Rajasthan between June 23 and 29; Western Rajasthan on 24 and 25; Eastern Uttar Pradesh on 23, 24, 28 and 29; Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand during 23-27, Eastern Rajasthan on 23 and 24; Haryana, Punjab, Western Uttar Pradesh on 25 and 26, Jammu and Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 25 June.
What is the condition of North-East India?
Apart from this, light or moderate rainfall along with thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds at the speed of 30-40 kmph are also expected at most/many places in North-West India during 23 to 29 June. In the weather forecast issued for Northeast India, IMD has said that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely at some places in Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh during the next 24 hours. Apart from this, light/moderate rainfall along with heavy rains with thunderstorms is expected to continue at many places in Northeast India during the next 7 days.
