New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu) : Parth Pawar officially became a member of the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan administered the oath of office to Parth Ajit Pawar as a Rajya Sabha member in Parliament House on Thursday. NCP's Parth Pawar was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Maharashtra.

It is worth noting that Parth Pawar belongs to a prominent political family in Maharashtra. He is the son of the late Ajit Pawar and grandson of Sharad Pawar. Ajit Pawar was the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar died in a plane crash earlier this year, which led to a major shift in state politics. Shortly after Ajit Pawar's death, his wife Sunetra Pawar took an active role in state politics.

She was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra just days after her husband's death, assuming party responsibilities as well. Previously, Sunetra Pawar was a member of the Rajya Sabha, but later resigned from that position to take up her new role in the state government. Parth Pawar was elected to the Rajya Sabha seat vacated by Sunetra Pawar's resignation. This is being seen as the beginning of his political career in Delhi. At Thursday's swearing-in ceremony, Parth Pawar took an oath of allegiance to the Constitution. With this, he has become a part of the country's upper house, and will now play a role in lawmaking and important issues at the national level.

In addition to the Vice President, Leader of the House and Union Minister JP Nadda, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, and others were present during the swearing-in ceremony. It is worth noting that a few days earlier, on April 6th, Sharad Pawar, Parth's grandfather and Ajit Pawar's uncle, was sworn in as a Rajya Sabha member. Other elected leaders from Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Odisha also took oath as Rajya Sabha MPs. A total of 19 Rajya Sabha members were sworn in on Monday. These included NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, Union Minister and Maharashtra Republican Party of India (Athawale) leader Ramdas Athawale, senior AIADMK leader Thambidurai, and DMK's Tiruchi Siva. All these leaders have become Rajya Sabha members again.
