New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is closely monitoring the situation amid reports of LPG cylinder shortages and long queues in several parts of the country due to tensions linked to the Iran conflict. During a meeting with ministers on Thursday, he directed them to stay alert and take strict action against anyone spreading panic or misinformation. He also asked ministers to actively counter misleading claims on social media with verified information.
The Prime Minister assured that India is well prepared to handle the situation despite global supply disruptions. He said the crisis is affecting economies and supply chains worldwide, but India remains in a stronger position than many other countries to manage the challenge. He also urged citizens not to panic and to rely only on authentic information.
Meanwhile, India has achieved a diplomatic breakthrough regarding energy supplies. Following talks between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Iran agreed to allow Indian-flagged tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without obstruction. Reports say two Indian tankers, Pushpak and Parimal, have already crossed the route safely, bringing relief for India’s energy supply.
