PM Modi's Sudden Visit to President Murmu: What's Behind the Closed Doors?
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday and met President Draupadi Murmu. Rashtrapati Bhavan shared a picture of this meeting on the social media platform 'X' and informed about it. Although no official details of this meeting were made available immediately, but speculation is rife about this meeting amid the ongoing deadlock in Parliament and trade threats from America.
It is believed that this meeting between the Prime Minister and the President has taken place against the backdrop of the ongoing deadlock in the Monsoon Session of Parliament. The opposition is adamant on the demand for discussion on issues like Special Intensive Review (SIR) and 'Operation Sindoor' being conducted in the state just before the Bihar Assembly elections. In the Monsoon Session which started on 21st July, there has been a constant tussle between the ruling party and the opposition over these demands, due to which the work in both the houses is almost stalled.
This meeting took place just a few days after US President Donald Trump announced a 25 percent tariff and penalty on India for buying military equipment and crude oil from Russia. This meeting, held at a time of international pressure, is also considered very important.
Rashtrapati Bhavan shared the picture on 'X' and wrote in the caption, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan." After this high-level meeting, discussions have intensified in political circles whether the government is looking for a new way to end the ongoing deadlock in Parliament.
