PM Modi says he is not satisfied with pace of ‘Reform Express’, urges private sector to think beyond profits

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given his first important interview since the recently concluded first phase of the Budget session. Speaking to a private channel, he discussed the country's economic progress and future plans in detail. The Prime Minister clarified that his government has demonstrated through its work the promises it made regarding reforms. However, he also stated that while the "Reform Express" has made significant progress, his temperament is unlikely to be completely satisfied so quickly. Describing the private sector as a crucial partner in India's development journey, the Prime Minister said that the next phase of a developed India will largely depend on how boldly the private sector invests in innovation, long-term capacity building, and global competitiveness.


Emphasizing the crucial role of the private sector in the next phase of economic transformation, PM Modi expressed hope for a strong response from the corporate world. He categorically advised that the private sector should not be focused solely on securing its profits. Instead, they should invest aggressively in research and development (R&D), supply chains, and improving the quality of their products. Furthermore, the Prime Minister also emphasized the crucial importance: as corporate productivity and profits increase, private sector owners should honestly share a fair share of those profits with their workers.


Speaking on technology and future challenges, PM Modi outlined the government's vision for the expansion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data centers in India. He stated that India is continuously expanding its computing power and data center infrastructure, laying the foundation for a rich and robust AI ecosystem in the country. The PM believes that these data centers will create massive employment opportunities for our youth in the future. In this direction, he invited the world to store their data safely in India. Furthermore, referring to systems like UPI, he said that these fundamental improvements in transaction methods have established India as a digital leader globally.


Highlighting the contribution of half the population to the country's development, the Prime Minister also clarified that every major decision of his government is taken with the welfare and empowerment of women in mind. He expressed his firm belief that the women of the country will play a key and leading role in fulfilling the vision of a "developed India" and taking the country to new heights.
