Panaji (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled the world’s tallest statue of Lord Ram at the historic Shri Sansthan Gokarn Jeevottam Math in South Goa. The bronze statue stands 77 feet tall, making it the largest idol of Lord Ram ever installed. The statue has been created by renowned sculptor Ram Sutar, who is also credited with designing the world’s tallest statue, the Statue of Unity in Gujarat.

Addressing a large gathering during the unveiling ceremony, PM Modi said the moment was extremely special for him. He expressed happiness that just days after the sacred flag was hoisted atop the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, he had the opportunity to unveil the world’s tallest statue of Lord Ram in Goa. He also praised the monastery’s 550-year-old legacy, saying it is inspiring to see how the institution has preserved its culture despite centuries of natural calamities, cyclones, and challenges.

Goa’s Public Works Department Minister Digambar Kamat said this event at the Canacona-based math was one of the grandest ceremonies in recent years. He added that the 77-foot statue will not only enhance the spiritual and cultural significance of the institution but will also become a major global center of devotion to Lord Ram. The bronze craftsmanship and Ram Sutar’s artistry make the statue even more magnificent.
