President Droupadi Murmu greets people on Odisha Day, says state’s contribution to nation-building is unparalleled
President Droupadi Murmu and other leaders extend greetings on Odisha Day, highlighting the state’s rich heritage and contribution to nation-building.
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): President Droupadi Murmu, along with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and other leaders, extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Odisha Foundation Day on Wednesday. The President said that Odisha’s invaluable contribution to India’s freedom struggle and nation-building continues to inspire everyone.
President Murmu wrote on social media platform X, “On the occasion of Odisha Day, I extend my heartfelt greetings to the brothers and sisters of Odisha. This day symbolizes Odisha’s rich cultural heritage, ancient traditions, and the resilience and endurance of its people. Odisha’s invaluable contribution to the freedom struggle and nation-building has always inspired us.”
She further stated that the role of Odisha’s skilled and hardworking people is extremely important in building a developed India. On this auspicious occasion, she prayed to Lord Jagannath for the happiness, prosperity, and well-being of the people of Odisha.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also conveyed his wishes on X, saying, “Jai Jagannath! Heartfelt greetings to all residents of Odisha on Utkal Divas. This state, enriched with a glorious history, vibrant cultural heritage, and abundant natural beauty, strengthens the identity of the nation. Its traditions, art, literature, and folk life are a beautiful reflection of India’s diversity and richness.”
He added that the hardworking and determined people of Odisha are continuously setting new benchmarks of development, and expressed hope that the state will achieve greater prosperity, strength, and self-reliance in the future.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also extended his wishes, noting that on this day in 1936, Odisha became the first state in India to be formed on a linguistic basis. He paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives to protect the identity and pride of the state and called for a renewed commitment to promote Odisha’s rich culture and heritage globally.
Union Minister Giriraj Singh also greeted the people, stating that the sacred land of Lord Jagannath is renowned for its cultural richness, art, and natural beauty, and continues to contribute significantly to the country’s development.
