RSS turns 100: PM Modi releases special stamp and coin to commemorate the occasion

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): On the auspicious occasion of Mahanavami, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a special commemorative coin and postage stamp honoring the glorious journey of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for 100 years. On this historic occasion, the Prime Minister praised the Sangh, saying that the 100-year journey of the RSS is an extraordinary example of sacrifice, selfless service, nation-building and discipline. PM Modi said that it is the good fortune of our 'Swayamsevak' generation that we are witnessing such a great occasion as the centenary year of the Sangh.

Giving information about the coin and postage stamp issued, the Prime Minister said, "Today, the Government of India has issued special postage stamps and commemorative coins to commemorate the Sangh's glorious journey of 100 years. The 100-rupee coin features the national emblem on one side and a magnificent image of Bharat Mata in a Varada Mudra with a lion on the other." He further explained that the postage stamps reflect the volunteers who are continuously engaged in serving the country while empowering society.

In his address, the Prime Minister became emotional and said, "It is the good fortune of our generation of volunteers that we are witnessing such a great occasion as the centenary year of the Sangh. On this occasion, I extend my best wishes and congratulations to the millions of volunteers dedicated to national service." He also paid tribute to the Sangh's founder, Dr. Hedgewar.

Recalling history, the Prime Minister said, "In 1963, RSS volunteers also participated in the January 26 parade. They marched with great pride and dignity to the tune of patriotism." He said that since its inception, the Sangh has focused on nation-building.

Concluding the programme, PM Modi congratulated all the countrymen on the occasion of Mahanavami and the upcoming Vijayadashami festival tomorrow and said that this festival is an eternal proclamation of the victory of truth over untruth.
