Florida (The Uttam Hindu): After successfully completing their mission on the International Space Station (ISS), Indian-origin astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla and his three fellow astronauts have started their return journey to Earth. Their Dragon spacecraft took off from the ISS for Earth at 4:45 pm today.
After a long journey of about 23 hours, the team will land in the sea near the coast of Florida at around 3 pm on Tuesday, July 15. This process is called 'splashdown'. The eyes of the whole world are fixed on the safe return of this team.
The team is bringing with them not just memories but also more than 263 kilograms of precious cargo. This includes important NASA hardware as well as data collected from more than 60 scientific experiments, which will play an important role in determining the future direction of space research.
Under Axiom Mission 4, this team took off on SpaceX's Falcon-9 rocket on June 25 and reached the International Space Station at 4:01 pm on June 26. It is worth mentioning that due to technical problems and weather challenges, this mission had to be postponed 6 times before the launch.
