Texas Flood Horror: Over 120 Dead, 170 Missing—Worst Disaster in State’s History
Texas (The Uttam Hindu): A devastating flood has gripped the U.S. state of Texas, leaving behind a trail of destruction and heartbreak. As of now, at least 120 lives have been lost, and over 170 people remain missing, prompting fears that the death toll could rise further in the coming days.
The worst-hit area is Kerr County, where nearly 100 bodies have been recovered. According to officials, locating missing individuals remains a daunting challenge due to the scale of devastation and scattered debris across miles of riverbanks and flood zones.
One of the most heart-wrenching tragedies occurred at Mystic Camp, where 27 children and staff members reportedly lost their lives after floodwaters overwhelmed the area. The flood struck on July 4, raising river levels rapidly and catching many by surprise.
More than 2,000 personnel from local, state, and federal agencies are actively engaged in rescue and relief operations. However, fallen trees, wreckage, and heavy debris are hampering the speed of the rescue work.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott, during a press briefing, assured the public that search operations along the Guadalupe River would continue without pause. He urged citizens to report any information they might have about missing loved ones to local authorities.
Witnesses describe scenes of utter destruction — uprooted trees, destroyed mobile homes, and debris scattered for miles along the riverbanks. Officials and locals alike are calling it one of the worst floods in Texas history.
