Tragic Collision on Purvanchal Expressway: Ambulance Collides with Pickup, 5 Lose Their Lives
Amethi (The Uttam Hindu): A horrific road accident occurred on the Purvanchal Expressway in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh on Sunday morning. A speeding ambulance hit a pickup going ahead on the expressway from behind. In this accident, five people travelling in the ambulance died on the spot, while one person was injured. The injured has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. This road accident occurred on the expressway in Shukul Bazar police station area of Amethi. The ambulance was going from Nuh in Haryana to Samastipur in Bihar.
According to the information, the ambulance was carrying the body of a person named Ashok Sharma. The ambulance hit the pickup going ahead on the expressway from behind at a high speed. The collision was so severe that both the vehicles were completely damaged and five people travelling in the ambulance died on the spot. Shukul Bazar police station in-charge said that as soon as the information about the accident was received, the police team reached the spot. The bodies were taken out of the ambulance and sent for postmortem.
Additional Police Officer of Amethi district said, "This accident happened on Sunday morning at around 5.30 am. An ambulance was coming from Nuh in Haryana carrying the body of deceased Ashok Sharma (resident of Samastipur, Bihar), in which two drivers Sarfaraz and Mahabir, residents of Haryana, along with four family members Satish Sharma, Ravi Sharma, Phulo Sharma and Shambhu Rai were travelling."
He further said, "Near the milestone number 59.700 in Thana area Bazar Shukul, the ambulance collided with a pickup going ahead. The ambulance was completely damaged in this accident. Both the drivers Sarfaraz and Mahabir and Satish Sharma, Ravi Sharma and Phulo Sharma died on the spot. During this, Shambhu Rai was injured, who has been admitted to the district hospital for treatment. The police removed both the vehicles with the help of a crane and restored the traffic system. At present, the investigation of the case is going on."
