Two dead, many injured as laborers’ bus catches fire after electrical contact
Jaipur (The Uttam Hindu): A tragic accident occurred on Tuesday in Todi village, located in the Manoharpur police station area of Jaipur. A bus full of laborers came in contact with a high-tension line, causing electric current to spread through the bus and causing a fire. Two laborers died on the spot, while about a dozen others were burned.
A bus carrying laborers came in contact with 11,000 volt wires, causing a fire that killed two people and scorched several others. : According to information, this bus was coming from Uttar Pradesh to a brick kiln located in Todi village carrying laborers. On the way, the bus came in contact with an 11,000 volt power line passing overhead. After getting electrocuted, there was intense sparking in the bus and a fire broke out. The sudden accident caused screams and panic among the passengers.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Manoharpur police station and administrative officials arrived at the scene. The injured were taken to Shahpura Sub-District Hospital, where five workers with severe burns were referred to Sawai Mansingh Hospital in Jaipur after first aid. A fire brigade team arrived at the scene and brought the fire under control.
The police have deposited the bodies of the deceased in the mortuary for post-mortem examination and have begun an investigation. Villagers said they had repeatedly urged the administration to remove the high-tension line, but no action was taken. Upon receiving information about the accident, the medical team at SMS Hospital in Jaipur was alerted. District Collector Jitendra Soni has left for the scene. A special team from the district police and a civil defense team are also arriving.
