Uddhav and Raj Thackeray Join Hands: 'We'll Cut Off Fingers, Not Nails' of Those Who Disrespect Marathi
Mumbai (The Uttam Hindu): Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray shared the stage together after many years on Saturday. Shiv Sena (UBT) former mayor and spokesperson Kishori Pednekar gave a statement regarding this rally. She called it a happy day. Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Kishori Pednekar, while talking to IANS, said, "We are feeling very happy and joyful.
During this, he fiercely cornered the Devendra Fadnavis government of Maharashtra on the issue of Marathi language. During this, he also said that if hooliganism is needed for justice, then yes we are goons. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray said, "Yes, we are goons. If we have to do hooliganism for justice, we will do it." This statement was clearly on the criticism of the media and the opposition in which questions were raised on the incidents of threatening and slapping hawkers and shopkeepers who did not speak Marathi by the workers of the Thackeray faction. Uddhav further said, "Raj, I and everyone here are united on the question of linguistic identity."
MNS and Shiv Sainiks are coming together and this is a happy day for us. When we were separate, we were working according to our issues and vision, but now the question is about our Marathi language. We will not cut the nails but the fingers of those who question Marathi.” On Uddhav and Raj Thackeray coming together, Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey said, “After almost 20 years, both the big leaders will come together on one platform. Although, this is not a political platform, but it is definitely a social platform. This is a fight for the identity and respect of Maharashtra. What we have achieved today on 5th July is a victory celebration and Vijay Yatra.” Let us tell you that Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray had earlier announced separate protests regarding the trilingual policy in Maharashtra.
However, now both the leaders are rallying together. Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has withdrawn the trilingual policy in the state after the controversy over language increased. He has announced the formation of a committee headed by former Planning Commission member Narendra Jadhav to prepare a report. The order to implement Hindi in primary schools as a third language has been withdrawn till the committee's report comes.
