“Far Deeper Reasons”: Jairam Ramesh Highlights 1–4:30 PM Gap Ahead of Dhankhar’s Resignation
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): On the evening of 21 July 2025, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his post. He cited his poor health as the reason for his resignation, after which speculations in politics became hot. Before resigning, Dhankhar had sent a letter to President Draupadi Murmu, in which he informed about his resignation citing his health as the reason.
On this development, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh raised some important questions on the social media platform 'X'. In this context, he wrote, "Yesterday at 12:30 pm, Vice President Dhankhar chaired a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Rajya Sabha. Several other members including Leader of the House JP Nadda and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju were present in this meeting. After a brief discussion, it was decided that the next meeting of the BAC will be held again at 4:30 pm."
Ramesh further said that when the committee meeting started at 4:30 pm, most of the members attended the meeting, but Nadda and Rijiju did not attend. The special thing was that Vice President Dhankhar was not personally informed about the absence of these two ministers. This caused him displeasure, and he postponed the next meeting of the BAC to 1 pm.
Ramesh wrote, "It is clear that some serious events have happened between 1 pm and 4:30 pm, due to which Nadda and Rijiju deliberately decided to avoid attending the meeting. After this, in a shocking move, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar resigned from his post and cited his health as the reason. We should respect this, but the truth is that there may be some deeper reasons behind it."
