Wanted criminal with Rs 50,000 bounty shot dead by UP Police
Lucknow (The Uttam Hindu): Haseen, a notorious history-sheeter carrying a bounty of Rs 50,000, was killed in a police encounter in the Kapurpur area of Hapur district in Uttar Pradesh. The encounter occurred when police intercepted him during a checking operation late Sunday night after receiving intelligence about criminal activity in the area.
According to police sources, the accused was allegedly planning to slaughter a cow when a police team tried to stop his vehicle. Instead of surrendering, Haseen opened fire indiscriminately at the police team. The accused was shot in the retaliatory fire and later died. Police officials recovered a pistol and a car from the encounter site. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination and a detailed investigation has been initiated.
Hapur Superintendent of Police Kunwar Gyanendra Singh said, "Around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday night, we received information about the movement of a group of suspects in the Kapurpur police station area. Acting on this information, the Kapurpur police station officer and his team headed to the location. During the investigation, they spotted a suspicious Swift Dzire car and attempted to stop it. The car's occupants opened fire on the police team, and the police retaliated in self-defense."
"In the ensuing encounter, one of the attackers was seriously injured. He was taken to the community health center in Dhulana and later referred to Rama Medical College, where doctors declared him dead. The deceased has been identified as Haseen, a resident of Manota village under the Ashmoli police station in Sambhal district," he said.
Singh said he had approximately 25-26 criminal cases registered against him, including serious charges such as robbery, assault, and illegal possession of weapons. "He was a wanted criminal on whom the police had announced a reward of ₹50,000. A pistol, ammunition, and a car were recovered from the scene," he said. Further investigation is underway.
