Amritsar sarpanch murder case: 2 shooters, 5 accomplices arrested in Chhattisgarh, linked to gangster Dasuwal rivalry
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The police have achieved a major breakthrough in the murder case of Aam Aadmi Party-affiliated Sarpanch Jarmal Singh in Amritsar, Punjab. On Monday, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav shared important information regarding this case in a press conference. According to the DGP, a total of seven accused have been arrested so far in the Sarpanch murder case. Of these, two were arrested from Raipur in Chhattisgarh, two from Mohali, and three from Tarn Taran.
Two shooters involved in the Amritsar Sarpanch murder case were arrested in Chhattisgarh, along with five accomplices; they had a rivalry with gangster Dasuwal: The DGP said that Sukhraj Singh, resident of Tarn Taran and Karamjit Singh, resident of Gurdaspur, who were caught from Raipur, had fired bullets at the Sarpanch. Apart from this, two accused including Jobanjit Singh have also been detained, while this morning the police have also arrested Kulwinder Singh Kinda, Armandeep Singh and Hardeep Singh.
He stated that both accused arrested in Raipur were produced before a local court and placed on 14-day transit remand. They will then be airlifted to Punjab. The DGP also revealed that the murder was orchestrated by a handler based abroad. Sarpanch Jarmal Singh reportedly had a long-standing rivalry with gangster Prabh Dasuwal. DGP Gaurav Yadav issued a stern message, stating that anyone attempting to challenge law and order in Punjab will not be spared, whether within the country or abroad.
It is noteworthy that Sarpanch Jarmal Singh, a resident of the Tarn Taran area, was shot dead on January 4th while he was in Amritsar to attend a wedding. After the incident, both shooters fled to Chhattisgarh and were hiding with relatives in Raipur. Both shooters were arrested on Sunday in a joint operation by Raipur and Punjab police.
