Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Troubles may escalate for Congress leader Sukhpal Khaira as Rajbir Singh Ghumman, OSD to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has filed a defamation case against Congress MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira.

Rajbir Ghumman filed the case in a Chandigarh court on Thursday. He informed the court that Khaira had made false and baseless allegations against him. He accused Khaira of deliberately making unfounded claims of corruption with the intent to tarnish his image.

Commenting on the matter, AAP spokesperson Govinder Mittal said that the court, after hearing the case, has issued a notice to Sukhpal Khaira and imposed a complete ban on him from making any statements regarding the matter. The court has also ordered Khaira to appear on August 11 and present his side.

He stated that Sukhpal Khaira will have to appear in court for the hearing on August 11, and if his statements differ from the claims he previously made, his troubles could deepen.
