Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann held an important press conference on Monday and presented a detailed four-year report card of the state's education department to the public. Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains was also present on the occasion. Chief Minister Mann claimed that previous governments had neglected government schools, but his government had successfully implemented the "Delhi Model" in the state, leading to a historic improvement in the level of education in Punjab.

19,000 crore budget for education, leaving Kerala behind

The Chief Minister said that education is the foundation of any country's progress, but in our country, two types of education are being imparted in the name of 'India' and 'Bharat'. 'India' education is for the wealthy, whereas this should not be the case at all. He said that this year, a budget of Rs 19,273 crore has been allocated, giving top priority to education, which is 7 percent more than last time. Mann made a bold claim that Punjab has now overtaken Kerala, the country's leading state, to become the number one state in the field of education.

'Akali Dal should not object to the yellow colour now'

CM Mann announced that "School on Wheels" has been launched in the state. For the first time in the state's history, special yellow buses have been introduced for government school children, providing safe transportation to and from school for over 15,000 children daily. Taking a dig at his political opponents, he said the Akali Dal should no longer object to the yellow color of these buses.

Mega PayTM, 1323 security guards and high-speed internet

Listing other major achievements of the government, Mann said that for the first time in Punjab schools, the "Mega PTM" program has been launched so that parents can track their children's progress. Campus managers have been appointed to ensure excellent school maintenance, and 1,323 security guards have been deployed for security. Furthermore, Punjab has become one of the three select states in the country where schools have internet access. A massive budget of 20,000 crore rupees has been allocated to equip schools with high-speed internet.

'Paper leaks are common in Gujarat and UP, Punjab has clean records for the last four years'

During the press conference, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann launched a scathing attack on BJP-ruled states over the issue of paper leaks. He stated that Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh consistently report paper leaks, with Gujarat leading the pack. "The paper leaked, the dream shattered," has become a slogan among the people there. In contrast, presenting Punjab's report card, he proudly stated that during the past four years of the AAP government's tenure, no paper leaks have occurred in Punjab. Only a few minor complaints were reported, which were promptly addressed.
