Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The Punjab and Haryana High Court has taken a tough stand against four top Punjab government officials for failing to comply with its orders banning modified vehicles in the state. The court imposed a fine of ₹2 lakh on four senior officials, including Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav. This amount will be deducted from the officials' personal salaries and deposited in the Punjab Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

The High Court imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on four senior officials, including the Punjab DGP: The officials against whom action has been taken by the court include DGP Gaurav Yadav, Transport Secretary Pradeep Kumar (IAS), State Transport Commissioner Manish Kumar (IAS) and Sangrur Deputy Commissioner Jitender Jorwal (IAS). The court said that this penalty will be in addition to the fine of Rs 1 lakh imposed earlier. The court noted in its order that the conduct of these officials shows wilful disregard of the court's directions.

The directive states that a total of ₹2 lakh be deposited in the Chief Minister's Relief Fund by deducting ₹50,000 from the salaries of each of the four officers. Furthermore, the ₹1 lakh fine imposed earlier should be promptly repaid, and an affidavit confirming compliance should be submitted to the court. The next hearing in the case will be on November 27th, where the court will examine whether its orders have been properly followed.
