Accused Claims Unaware of Hitting Fauja Singh- The police Make Revelations in Hit And Run Case
Jalandhar (The Uttam Hindu): Jalandhar police has made important revelations after the arrest of the accused in the hit and run case related to 114-year-old famous runner Fauja Singh. Investigation has revealed that the accused did not know anything about Fauja Singh. The accused got scared due to the accident and fled from the spot with his car. The accused has been identified as Amritpal Singh Dhillon, who is 26 years old.
Jalandhar SSP Harvinder Singh Virk while talking to the media on Wednesday said, "The accused did not know at the time of the incident that he had hit Fauja Singh. After hitting Fauja Singh, he fled from the spot. After watching the news, he came to know that the person he had hit was Fauja Singh."
Jalandhar Police solved this hit and run case within about 30 hours and arrested the accused. SSP Rural Harvinder Singh Virk said that the accused Amritpal Singh Dhillon works in Canada and returned to India on June 23 to get his house built. The accused's father has passed away, while his sister and mother live in Canada.
According to police officer Harvinder Singh Virk, the incident was investigated on the basis of CCTV footage and eye witnesses. Some parts of the car were found at the scene. These pieces were examined in different agencies of Toyota company. After the information received from there, CCTV footage was examined, then the car was found out.
The SSP said that we took this case as a challenge and solved the matter within 30 hours. The police officer said that along with arresting the accused, his vehicle has also been seized.
The SSP said that it was the duty of the accused to get the injured admitted to the hospital for treatment, but he fled from the spot. Therefore, a case has also been registered under Section 105 of the BNS.
