Tarn Taran (The Uttam Hindu): Ahead of the Tarn Taran Assembly by-election, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu’s campaign received a major boost today when prominent Congress leader from village Kasel, Rajbir Singh Kasel, along with dozens of his supporters, quit Congress and joined AAP.
During a press conference in Tarn Taran, AAP Punjab Working President Amansher Singh Sherry Kalsi, Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, MP Gurmeet Singh Meet Hayer, and Cabinet Minister Barinder Goyal formally welcomed all the leaders into the party. Among those who joined AAP with Rajbir Singh Kasel were Ajit Singh, Balwinder Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Manjeet Singh, Lal Singh, Sandeep, Manjinder, and a large number of other supporters. AAP leaders Gaurav Masih and Councillor Bhagwan Singh played an important role in facilitating this joining.
On the occasion, Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar said that Rajbir Kasel has a strong base in village Kasel plus 15-20 nearby villages, which will give significant strength to the party. He stated that all these new members have joined AAP inspired by the development work of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government. Citing achievements such as 56,000 jobs, improvement in schools, and canal water projects, Bhullar said that all government jobs in Mann government have been given without any bribes, recommendations or favouritism, which has rekindled hope among the people. He assured the new entrants of full respect, honor, and responsibility within the party.
AAP’s Working President Sherry Kalsi said that the AAP’s support base is expanding every day because the people of Tarn Taran want an AAP MLA along with an AAP government. MP Meet Hayer said that in just three and three-quarter years, the AAP government has achieved remarkable progress, and as a result, people have already made up their minds to ensure Harmeet Singh Sandhu’s victory.
