Mukhya Mantri Teerath Yatra: Mann Government provides free religious travel
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): In Punjab, the Mann government has implemented every scheme that was expected to benefit any section of society. Many people were unable to undertake pilgrimages or visit religious sites due to lack of funds. To fulfill the wishes of such underprivileged people, the Punjab government launched the Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme. According to the 2011 census, the number of people above 60 years of age in Punjab was 28.70 lakh. However, 14 years have passed since the census. According to the 2011 census, the number of people above 50 years of age was around 64 lakh, who would now be over 60 years old. According to this estimate, there are now 64 lakh people in Punjab who can benefit from this scheme.
The government aims to benefit as many senior citizens as possible through this scheme, enabling them to undertake pilgrimages according to their religious beliefs. This step by the Punjab government reflects its commitment and respect towards senior citizens, allowing them to fulfill their religious aspirations. This scheme is not just a religious program, but a living example of religious equality and mutual love. Under this scheme, people of all religions are provided free travel to their respective holy sites. Devotees are taken to Amritsar Sahib, Patna Sahib, Hemkund Sahib, Haridwar, Mathura, Vaishno Devi, Ajmer Sharif, etc. Respecting and upholding the dignity of all religions, the Mann government has demonstrated that all paths lead to the same destination—God. Recently, Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann launched the second phase of the 'Chief Minister's Pilgrimage Scheme' from Dhuri, further strengthening state unity and expanding a series of welfare programs. Sixteen thousand pilgrims will be selected from each assembly constituency for this pilgrimage. The Chief Minister stated that the scheme is open to people of all communities, religions, income groups and regions without discrimination.
