Punjab and Haryana High Court rejects suspended DIG Bhullar’s bail plea, to remain in jail
Chandigarh (The Uttam Hindu): The case of suspended Punjab Police DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar was heard today in the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The High Court rejected the bail plea of suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar. Bhullar will now have to remain in jail. During the hearing, Bhullar's lawyer said that the term "service water," which the CBI has described as a bribe, could mean something else. It's not necessary that it was used for bribery.
However, the Chandigarh CBI court had previously rejected the bail plea. The CBI lawyer argued that Bhullar held such a high-ranking position and was the son of a former Director General of Police (DGP), so the investigating agency gathered all the evidence before making the arrest. His bribery was at a rapid pace, which is why the arrest of Bhullar, a DIG, shook the entire nation. The court subsequently issued its verdict, stating that Bhullar will remain in jail.
