Cross-Border Arms smuggling Racket Busted in Amritsar: 4 Smugglers Arrested; 7 Pistols including PX5 and Glock Recovered
Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Police has achieved a major success. Acting on the basis of intelligence, Amritsar Commissionerate Police has foiled the arms smuggling from across the border. In this operation, the police has arrested four accused and recovered 7 sophisticated weapons from their possession.
Cross-border arms smuggling racket busted in Amritsar, police arrested 4 smugglers; 7 pistols including PX5 and Glock recovered: The weapons recovered include Italy-made PX5 9mm, Austria-made Glock 9mm, and .30 bore pistols, which are commonly used in gangster networks. Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav informed that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were in direct contact with smugglers sitting across the border in Pakistan. These people were operating from villages located near the Indo-Pak border and supplying arms to gangsters active in Punjab.
In this regard, an FIR has been registered under the Arms Act at the Cheharta police station in Amritsar. The police is now investigating the entire network in depth, so that it can be ascertained which gangsters were going to get these weapons and who else is involved in this racket. The DGP has clearly said that the Punjab Police is fully committed to maintaining peace and law and order in the state, and continuous action will continue to root out any illegal network coming from across the border.
