Punjabi woman Sarabjit Kaur arrested in Pakistan, to be deported to India

Amritsar (The Uttam Hindu): Indian Sikh pilgrim Sarabjit Kaur, who married in Pakistan, has been arrested in Pakistan. Her Pakistani husband, Nasir Hussain, has also been detained. They may now be repatriated to India.


Sarabjit Kaur traveled to Pakistan with a group of Sikh pilgrims on November 4, 2025. There, she married a local youth, Nasir Hussain. After the marriage, Sarabjit changed her name to Noor Hussain.


According to Ramesh Singh Arora, a minister in the Pakistan Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGMC) and the Pakistani Punjab government, a joint team of the Intelligence Bureau and local police conducted the operation in Pehre Wali village in Nankana Sahib on January 4, 2026. The Pakistani government has initiated the process of deporting Sarabjit Kaur to India.
