Emotional farewell for Rajvir Jawanda; son performs last rites in ancestral village
Ludhiana (The Uttam Hindu): A tearful farewell was given to Rajveer Jawanda, a shining star of the Punjabi music scene, in the presence of thousands of fans, in his native village of Pauna today. His son, Dilawar, lit the funeral pyre in the grounds near the village government school. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and several prominent figures from the Punjabi industry, including Jawanda, who passed away at the young age of 35, were among those who paid their last respects.
It was a moving coincidence that Jawanda's funeral was held in the same grounds where he first sang on stage. Fans and locals paid tribute to him and expressed their desire to build a memorial there. Before the funeral, a photo of Jawanda emerged for the first time 11 days after the accident, showing him wearing a red turban.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann went directly to Jawanda's ancestral home for the final darshan, where he shared his grief with the family. Singers like Kanwar Grewal, Kulwinder Billa, and Ammy Virk were also present with the family during this difficult time.
It is noteworthy that Rajveer Jawanda passed away yesterday, Wednesday (October 8), at 10:55 am at Fortis Hospital in Mohali. He had been hospitalized for 11 days following a road accident. According to the medical bulletin issued by the hospital, the cause of his death was multi-organ failure. Following his death, his body was taken to his home in Mohali and then, after a post-mortem, his last rites were performed in his village today.
