Fazilka (The Uttam Hindu): Punjab Governor Shri Gulab Chand Kataria is once again set to sound the bugle against drug abuse from the border district of Fazilka. The march, which had to be postponed in December due to bad weather and fog, will now be led by the Governor himself in Fazilka. The Governor had announced this during the state-level function in Fazilka on Republic Day. The anti-drug march in Fazilka district will begin on February 11, with the Governor walking for an hour with local residents and youth to unite society against drug abuse. This anti-drug march will be held at 10 am. The march is being organized in collaboration with the Karan Gilhotra Foundation. The Governor clarified that the police and army alone are not enough to stop the drugs coming across the border via drones; the cooperation of the people in the border areas is essential. The main objective of this march is to channel the energy of the youth towards sports, education, and self-employment.

Delay due to bad weather

It is noteworthy that this march was previously planned for December 18 (2025), but due to the severe cold and dense fog, the Governor could not reach Fazilka for security reasons. At that time, he had inspired the youth with a live video message from Raj Bhavan. Now, with the weather clearing up, he is coming to the ground himself to make this campaign a 'people's movement'.
