Amritsar(The Uttam Hindu): The General Ijlas of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) convened at Teja Singh Samudra Hall under the leadership of President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami. The meeting focused on resolving disputes between Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Takht Sri Patna Sahib, as well as addressing recent threats to the Golden Temple.
Key Decisions
1. Advisory Committee Formation: An advisory committee will be established to handle complaints related to Sikh issues, with only serious cases referred to Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
2. Inter-Takht Coordination: The SGPC emphasized the importance of consulting all five Takht Sahibs before making decisions, ensuring a unified approach.
3. Emergency Meetings: In case of emergencies, the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib can convene meetings, but all Takht Sahibs must be informed and involved in the decision-making process.
Golden Temple Threats
The SGPC expressed concern over the recent bomb threats to the Golden Temple, with over 20 incidents reported since July 14. Despite investigations, no concrete leads have been found.
SGPC Appeal
President Dhami appealed to all five Takht Sahibs to adopt the decisions taken in the meeting, emphasizing the importance of respecting Panthic customs and the supremacy of Sri Akal Takht Sahib.
