Tarn Taran (The Uttam Hindu) : A law college in Tarn Taran was thrown into chaos on Monday when a young man shot and killed a female student inside a classroom and then shot himself immediately afterward. CCTV footage, lasting approximately 10 seconds, has emerged, capturing the entire incident.

According to the footage, the student was sitting on a bench in the classroom. A young man arrived, and the two chatted for a few moments. Suddenly, the young man pulled out a pistol and shot the student in the head. He then reloaded the pistol and shot himself in the head. Hearing the gunshot, another student ran outside, and other students arrived at the scene shortly after.

According to police, the deceased student has been identified as Sandeep Kaur (20), while the young man has been identified as Princeraj Singh, a resident of Naushera Pannuan. Both were studying at the same law college. Following the incident, police sealed off the entire college campus. Forensic teams are collecting evidence from the scene. Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the motive behind the murder and the relationship between the two.

Family members raised questions on college security

The family members of the students who reached the college after getting information about the incident have raised serious questions on the college management. They say that there are no proper security arrangements in the college and no one investigated how the student entered inside with a weapon. The family members alleged that the student's mother was first told on the phone that her daughter was injured and to reach the college soon. On reaching the spot, they came to know the truth that the student had been shot. The family members have demanded action against the college management.

Harjinder Kaur, the mother of the deceased student, said that her daughter had gone to college as usual that morning and was unaware of any dispute. She said the college called only to inform her that her daughter had been seriously injured. By the time she arrived, her daughter had already died. She added that the accused youth was reportedly a resident of Tarn Taran, and a pistol was recovered from the scene.

ACP Jagbir Singh stated that the class had not yet begun at the time of the incident. The student died at the scene after being shot, while the young man was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where he also died. Police are investigating where the accused youth obtained the pistol. They are also investigating whether his family has a licensed weapon. If this is not found, the pistol will also be investigated for illegality.
