Global Super League 2025: Central Districts opened their Account by Defeating Hobart Hurricanes

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Central Districts won the seventh match of Global Super League-2025 against Hobart Hurricanes by 16 runs. With this, Central Districts have registered their first win in the season. At the same time, Hobart Hurricanes have suffered their second defeat.

The Central Districts team has reached the fourth position in the points table after winning one out of three matches, while Hobart Hurricanes is at the third position after losing two out of three matches.

In the match, Central Districts won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 167 runs for the loss of four wickets. Will Young and Dan Cleaver shared a partnership of 29 runs in 4.2 overs.

The team had lost three wickets by the score of 40. From here, captain Tom Bruce along with Curtis Heaphy shared a 113-run partnership for the fourth wicket to take the team to a strong score.

Tom Bruce was out after scoring 62 runs in 36 balls with the help of one six and eight fours, while Curtis played an unbeaten inning of 50 runs in 38 balls with the help of six fours.

For the opposition, Billy Stanlake, Mohammad Nabi, Osama Mir and Oden Smith took one wicket each.

In response, the Hobart Hurricanes team could only score 151 runs by losing eight wickets in the stipulated overs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa was out after scoring 4 runs, while captain Ben McDermott was out after scoring 16 runs. The situation was such that the team had lost six wickets by the score of 84.

From here, Mohammad Nabi added 65 runs for the seventh wicket with Fabian Allen. Nabi scored 43 runs in 25 balls with four sixes and three fours, while Allen remained unbeaten on 36 runs in 16 balls with five sixes.

For the opposition, Ajaz Patel and Blair Tickner took two wickets each while Angus, Jaden Lennox and Dean Foxcroft took one wicket each.

Hobart Hurricanes will play their final league match against Guyana Amazon Warriors on July 17, while Central Districts will take on Rangpur Riders on the same day.
