Paris (The Uttam Hindu): Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) defeated Liverpool FC 2-0 to take a commanding lead in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The hosts completely dominated the match at the Parc des Princes in Paris.

PSG adopted an aggressive approach from the start of the match. Désiré Doue gave the team an early lead in the 11th minute with a brilliant shot from inside the box. His shot took a deflection and went over the goalkeeper. PSG continued to create chances throughout the first half. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé launched several dangerous attacks, but Liverpool goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili made some excellent saves to keep the team in the match. Despite this, Liverpool failed to hit a single shot on target.

The second half didn't change the course of the match. PSG continued to search for a second goal. They finally found success in the 65th minute. Kwartkhelia made it 2-0 with a simple finish off a brilliant pass from João Neves. Liverpool's defense continued to be under pressure, and PSG even faced a penalty, but VAR decisions gave the English team some reprieve. Ashraf Hakimi and Dembélé created further chances in the end, but the scoreline remained unchanged. With this win, PSG avenged last season's defeat and will now enter the second leg at Anfield with a strong 2-0 lead. Liverpool, meanwhile, will face a significant comeback challenge, with a semi-final spot at stake.
