Kolkata out of league; Now IPL 2025 Finals will be played in this city...BCCI announces the playoff schedule

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday has announced the playoff schedule for IPL 2025 Finals, according to which the IPL 2025 Final will be held in Ahemdabad at Narendra Modi stadium.


After 70 action-packed league-stage matches filled with energy, drama, thrill and entertainment, all eyes will now be on Mullanpur, New Chandigarh which will host the much-awaited Qualifier 1 between the top two teams on Thursday, May 29, followed by a thrilling Eliminator match on Friday, May 30.


The excitement will be further enhanced as the exciting Qualifier 2 and Grand Final will be hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the world's largest cricket stadium. The iconic ground has previously hosted the final in 2022 and 2023. Notably, during Gujarat Titans' debut season in 2022, Ahmedabad was restricted to just two matches due to COVID-19 protocols - those two being Qualifier 2 and the Final. The Titans won the title that year and the venue retained the final in 2023. Qualifier 2 will be played between the loser of Qualifier 1 and the winner of the Eliminator, which will take place on Sunday, June 1. The much-awaited summit clash, which will crown the winner of the 18th season of the Tata IPL, will be played on Tuesday, June 3.


Hyderabad and Kolkata were initially scheduled to host the final four matches before the tournament was suspended for a week. The IPL Governing Council decided on the new venues for the playoffs after taking into account weather conditions and other parameters. Tata IPL Match No. 65 shifted from Bengaluru to Lucknow. Tata IPL Match No. 65 between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) has been shifted to the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow due to adverse weather conditions in Bengaluru.


Just like the playoff stage, an additional hour will be allotted as per the state of play for the remaining matches of the league stage starting Tuesday, May 20. So far, three teams have confirmed their place in the playoffs: Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Punjab Kings. There is a tough competition between Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals for the final spot.
