New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): The Indian Premier League began in 2008. The 19th season (IPL 2026) is currently underway. Over the past 18 seasons, there have been many players who have played for multiple teams, but we're going to tell you about five players who have played for most of the IPL seasons, or even just one team throughout their IPL careers.

Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli has been a part of RCB since 2008. He holds the record for playing the most matches for a single team in the IPL. As of the inaugural match against SRH in 2026, Kohli has played a total of 268 matches for RCB.

MS Dhoni: MS Dhoni has been with CSK since 2008 and has led the team to five championships under his captaincy. CSK was banned in 2016 and 2017, which led to Dhoni playing for the Rising Pune Supergiants. Dhoni has also represented CSK in 16 of the last 18 seasons. As of IPL 2025, Dhoni has played a total of 248 matches for CSK, ranking second on the list of players with the most appearances for a single team.

Rohit Sharma: Rohit Sharma, who played for the Deccan Chargers from 2008 to 2010, has been with the Mumbai Indians since 2011. As of the match against KKR in IPL 2026, Rohit has played 228 matches. He holds the third-highest number of caps for a single team.

Sunil Narine: Off-spinner Sunil Narine has been with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) since 2012. As of the IPL 2026 match against MI, Narine has played 190 matches for KKR.

Kieron Pollard: Pollard played 189 matches for the Mumbai Indians (MI) from 2010 to 2022. He ranks fifth on the list of players with the most appearances for a single team. Pollard has now retired from the IPL and is MI's batting coach.
