‘King of speed’ Brett Lee enters Hall of Fame, earns cricket’s top honour
New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Whenever the world of cricket talks about fearsome speed and accurate bowling, the name of legendary Australian fast bowler Brett Lee is often mentioned first. Now, in recognition of his illustrious international career, Cricket Australia has inducted him into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame.
Whenever Brett Lee came out to bowl, his long run-up and speed of over 150 kmph intimidated even the best batsmen. At a time when Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath were ruling the world with their bowling, Brett Lee distinguished himself with his fast pace. Expressing happiness on being inducted into the Hall of Fame, Brett Lee said that his biggest achievement is staying in the game for a long time. He said, "I missed many matches due to injuries, but it is a matter of pride for me to bowl at a speed of 150-160 kmph for almost 20 years."
Brett Lee proved to be the most lethal weapon for the Australian team that won the 2003 ODI World Cup. During his career (1999-2012), he set numerous records. He took 310 wickets in 76 Test matches, while he took 380 wickets in 221 ODIs. He has a total of over 700 wickets in international cricket.
