PM Modi’s fun chat with Deepti Sharma: Her answer on ‘Jai Shri Ram’ tattoo goes viral

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the Indian women's World Cup-winning team on Wednesday. During the meeting, PM Modi inquired about Deepti Sharma's Instagram account with the words "Jai Shri Ram" and the tattoo of Lord Hanuman on her arm.

Regarding the tattoo of Lord Hanuman, the Indian cricketer said, "I believe in him more than myself. Whenever I face difficulties, I take his name. I come out of them."

World Cup 2025 Player of the Tournament Deepti Sharma said she was looking forward to meeting PM Modi. She recalled their meeting in 2017, when PM Modi urged her to keep working hard.

Deepti said, "We've been waiting to meet you. I remember you telling me in 2017 that a true player is one who learns from their failures. Don't stop working hard. These words have always motivated me. Whenever I get time, I listen to your speeches. You handle situations so well. It helps me in my game."

India scored 298 for 7 against South Africa in the title match played in Navi Mumbai. Shefali Verma scored 87 runs while Deepti Sharma made 58 runs.

In reply, South Africa were bowled out for just 246 in 45.3 overs. Deepti Sharma took 5 wickets for 39 runs in 9.3 overs. India won the final by 52 runs.

Deepti Sharma was the leading bowler in the Women's World Cup 2025, taking 22 wickets. She also scored half-centuries against England and South Africa.
