New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): After a stellar innings in the ODI series against Australia, Rohit Sharma has achieved the No. 1 spot in the ICC ODI rankings for batsmen for the first time. At 38, he has also become the oldest player in the world to reach this milestone.

Rohit Sharma, who scored an unbeaten 121 in Sydney after playing a knock of 73 against Australia in Adelaide, has climbed two places to the top of the batting rankings. Rohit Sharma, who has scored 33 centuries in the ODI format, shared an unbroken partnership with legendary batsman Virat Kohli (74*) to guide India to a resounding 9-wicket win in the third ODI. However, Team India could not save the series. Rohit has achieved the top ranking among batsmen in ODI cricket for the first time, leaving behind Afghanistan's Ibrahim Zadran and his Indian teammate Shubman Gill in this list. 38-year-old Rohit has been in the top 10 for most of the last decade.

In addition to Rohit, spinner Axar Patel has also been rewarded for his impressive performance in Sydney. Axar has jumped six places to 31st in the ODI bowlers' rankings, while he has improved four places to 8th in the ODI all-rounders' rankings. In the ODI bowlers' list, New Zealand spinner Mitchell Santner has moved up three places to fourth, while Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has moved up two places to eighth. England's right-arm bowler Harry Brook has climbed 23 places to 25th in the ODI batsmen's list. Following South Africa's eight-wicket win against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, the latest Test rankings have also seen changes. Veteran South African spinner Keshav Maharaj has moved up nine places to 13th in the Test bowlers' rankings after taking nine wickets. His teammate Simon Harmer has moved up 26 places to 45th after taking 6 wickets in the second innings of the same match.
