T20 World Cup: Zimbabwe pull off another upset, beat Sri Lanka by 6 wickets; had earlier defeated Australia

New Delhi (The Uttam Hindu): In Match No. 38 of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, Zimbabwe national cricket team registered another major upset by defeating Sri Lanka national cricket team by six wickets on Thursday, 19 February. The Group B match was played at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

Zimbabwe achieved this impressive win on Sri Lanka’s home ground, making it one of their biggest victories of the tournament. Earlier in the competition, Zimbabwe had already stunned the cricketing world by defeating Australia national cricket team. Despite the loss, Sri Lanka were not affected much, as they had already secured qualification for the Super 8 stage.

Chasing a target of 179 runs, Zimbabwe reached the total with three balls to spare. Brian Bennett played a crucial role with an unbeaten 63 runs, while captain Sikandar Raza contributed 45 runs.

Zimbabwe have now won all four of their matches in the tournament. In the Super 8 round, they will face India national cricket team, South Africa national cricket team, and West Indies national cricket team.
