Meerut (The Uttam Hindu): The arrest of a so-called "fake IAS officer" in the district has raised serious questions about the functioning of the UP Police. Rahul Kaushik, whom the police had patted on the back for calling a fake IAS officer, has now presented such solid documents claiming to be a genuine officer that the entire police department is in turmoil. Following this dramatic turn, senior police officers have maintained complete silence, and the case has taken on a new, complicated dimension.

Police claims proved wrong! UPSC reveals concrete evidence

In fact, on March 12, Meerut police detained Rahul Kaushik, claiming that he was posing as a fake IAS officer and intimidating officials and misleading them through phone calls. The police held a press conference, calling it a major success and stating that the accused was not in any government service. However, soon after, Rahul appeared before the media and refuted the police's claims. Rahul claimed that he had passed the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam in 2008 and was selected for the Indian Postal Service with an all-India rank of 728. To substantiate his claims, he presented a Home Ministry identity card, a certificate from the Bureau of Parliamentary Studies and Training, a postal department ID card, and an old newspaper clipping containing UPSC results to the media.

Police entered the house at midnight and took major action without listening to anyone.

Narrating his ordeal, Rahul leveled serious allegations against the police. He claims that on the night of March 11th and 12th, 10 to 12 policemen suddenly entered his home and detained him without giving any clear reason. Rahul alleges that the police confiscated his phone, mistreated him, and held him at the police station until the next evening without even hearing his side of the story. He was later released after his family was informed and legal action was taken.

Was the argument with the officer over the phone the real reason for the arrest?

The real story behind this entire controversy is being told differently. According to sources, Rahul had a heated argument over the phone with a senior police officer, which led to this hasty action out of spite. Meanwhile, another truth about Rahul is that he was accused of fraud in 2017-18, after which he was suspended and dismissed from service in 2019. Rahul is currently fighting a legal battle against this decision in the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT). He is suffering from severe mental stress due to the loss of his job and is undergoing treatment. Rahul is now preparing to approach the court through a lawyer to challenge this unilateral police action, raising the question: did the police simply declare a person a fake officer without proper investigation?
